Eternity is equal to infinity. God gave me an example of this one evening as I was returning home from a Church prayer meeting. My brother, Neil, had sent me an e-mail containing information on the Hubble telescope. In August 2009, a group had the use of the scope for 10 days. They pointed it at an area in the sky that seemed to be vacant. They minimized the filters and turned it on. Nothing appeared for a few days. Then objects began to appear. They discovered stars and entire galaxies that were out as far as 47 billion light years. As you recall, 1 light year is 5.88 trillion miles. As I was pondering the significance of that, god spoke to me. He said that 47 billion light years though it’s a long distance does not reach to infinity. Infinity keeps going far beyond that. Then He said, eternity is equal to infinity. That got my attention. When we are born again as described in John chapter 3, we are born into eternal life with God. That means when we are born again, we begin our new life alive, walking and talking with God. If we are not born again, we are dead in our sins. Ephesians 2 : 1 says “Once you were dead, doomed forever because of your many sins.” Either way, we remain conscious in our spirit throughout eternity, with or without God. In Matthew chapter 7: 13-14, it says, “You can enter God’s Kingdom only through the narrow gate. The highway to Hell is broad, and it’s gate is wide for the many who choose the easy way. But, the gateway to life is small and the road is narrow, and only a few ever find it.” I want to tell you today, I have found the Gateway. It’s not the easy way, but it’s the best way, and I want to show you that way. Many of you have already found it. And, for those of you have, listen to the words from Col. 1:13,14 “For He (GOD) has rescued us from the dominion of darkness and brought us into the kingdom of the son he loves, inwhom we have redemption; the forgiveness of sin.” Our God is an awesome God! What he has planned for us in eternity is beyond our ability to comprehend. One thing I do know, is that nothing, no hardship, no sickness or disease or trouble that we go through, in comparison to eternity, is too much for us to endure. Col 2:13,14 “He forgave all our sins, He cancelled the record that contained the charges against us and destroyed it by nailing it to Christ’s cross.”
Recently, on CNN and on the local news, there has been reported the story about Rick Norsigian. Rick is a wall painter who works for the FresnoSchool District. About 10 years ago, at a garage sale in Pasadena, he bought 65 photograph negatives that are believed to be the work of famed photographer, Ansel Adams for 45 dollars. The negatives have been appraised to be worth 200 million dollars. As I thought about the person who sold the negatives, my heart goes out to him. Then, I thought some people have sold their souls for less. Souls that could spend eternity with God in Heaven are being traded for worthless things that soon fade away like money, drugs, alcohol, sex and other pleasures. Eph. 2 : 4-6 says, “But God is so rich in mercy, and he loved us so very much, that even while we were dead because of our sins, He gave us life when he raised Christ from the dead. For He raised us from the dead along with Christ, and we are seated with Him in heavenly realms—all because we are one with Christ Jesus.” Today, if you are being deceived and not following God, that situation can be changed by simply saying :“Dear Jesus, please forgive all my sins. I want to be part of your family.. Thank you Jesus for saving me. I am born again by the grace of God. Amen!
